Thank you to the wonderful crew that made Violet Peak Studios.
This team of students who all came in with their own strengths and weaknesses, knowledge and learning opportunities, and that drive to make something special. This was an absolutely special piece to be a part of.
To higher peaks.
Choosing the Right Style
These models have simple shaping, recognizable outlines, and unique properties to distinguish each of them. Wanting to fit the blocky and recognizable low-poly style, my artists made the best work they could after the best work, again and again until our game was complete.
Finding the Inspiration
When it came to deciding how I envisioned the final game's stylistic choices, I really only had one idea that stuck. The scope of the game was made in mind with the idea of a young newcomer to the gaming world receiving “Momo and Mako” alongside their newest PSX console system. A simple, fun, sometimes challenging, and unique gameplay loop were all qualities I sought for when the pitch of the game was being made.
